January 18, 2017 - The Knights of the Championship Table to Feast at Fastrak Banquet
CARNESVILLE, GA – The Knights of the Championship Table at the Annual Fastrak Awards Banquet will be a busy group this Saturday night at the Park Vista Hotel in Gatlinburg, TN.  Cla Knight of North Augusta, GA will be busy making trips to the podium to collect checks, trophies and awards to take back to his family and crew after winning three different Fastrak titles in 2016.

Knight became the first driver to win the Fastrak Pro Late Model Series South East Region Championship and the Fastrak Pro Late Model Series Mid-Ohio Valley Region Championship in the same year driving the #42Augusta Aquatics Longhorn.  Knight was also the East Coast Rumble Championship belt winner, a three-race series that served to be a coming out party for Knight.

The Labor Day Holiday Weekend Series for the Fastrak Pro Late Model Series opened on September 2 on the high banks at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN where Knight scored his first career Fastrak win.  Knight then closed the trio of races on another high-banked speed plant, Wythe Raceway in Wytheville, VA with his second win of the season on September 4.

With the Fastrak MOV title already in his pocket, Knight traveled to Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA to battle with David Smith of Inman, SC for the history-making Fastrak SE Championship.  Smith went into the East Coast Rumble with the point lead, but arrived at the Georgia State Championship Race at Lavonia with a slim lead.

Trent Ivey of Union, SC would win the race, but he had Knight right with him when the checkered flag fell.  Knight was in a position to win his third Fastrak SE race of the season, but the bigger picture stayed in focus for the 21-year-old driver.

“We’ll take second, as I could have tried to make something happen at the end of the race, but I had to look at the big picture,” Knight said.  “We’ll take this championship back to North Augusta with us and put it on the mantel next to the Fastrak MOV Championship Trophy.  I’m proud to have become the first driver in Fastrak history to win these two championships in the same year.  Just to win one title with the competition in this series is pretty tough, let alone two!”

The twin Fastrak Championships and four Fastrak Pro Late Model Weekly Racing Series wins in 2016 followed up a successful 2015 season that saw Knight capture the Rookie of the Year title and a fourth-place finish in both the South East Region and the Mid-Ohio Valley Region.

“After winning the Rookie of the Year and placing fourth in points in two Regions last year, to back it up with Championships in both Regions made it a fun and satisfying season,” Knight said.  “This season, I had more experience with a full notebook from the 2015 season to take back to tracks, we upgraded our equipment, and I made better decisions as a driver.”

Knight will be looking good this Saturday night at the Fastrak/Ultimate Annual Awards Banquet, as it was announced today by Fastrak Founder and CEO Stan Lester that all of the evening’s festivities will be broadcast on Facebook Live!!!  The Banquet opens with a Cash Bar at 5 p.m., with Dinner at 6 p.m., and Awards going live and in living color at 6:30 p.m.

Along with Knight, many other drivers from the Fastrak and Ultimate Family of racing series will be honored.  They include the Fastrak Pro Late Model Weekly Racing Series National Champion David McCoy, the Fastrak World Champion and Ultimate Super Late Model Series Champion Dennis “Rambo” Franklin, and the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Champion Jeremy Hines.

Ryan Montgomery is the Fastrak World Challenge Champion, the Fastrak Triple Crown Champion is Ross Bailes and Ivey is the Fastrak Georgia State Race Champion.  The 2016 Fastrak Future Cup Champions for drivers 19 years of age and younger are Henry Hornsby III in the South East Region, and Tyler Stutler in the Mid-Ohio Valley Region.
