Knight Joins Tarheel Invitational Field at Tri-County
With the promoters and track officials mandating several precautionary measures to hold the event during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Cla Knight headed to Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, North Carolina) on Thursday evening for the Schaeffer Oil Tarheel Invitational. With the field limit being set at 25 cars, Cla logged the 17th fastest time overall in qualifying before placing sixth in his heat. Starting the $4,000-to-win A-Main in 17th, Knight was an early retiree from the 40-lap feature on lap 19.
On Friday night at Lancaster Speedway (Lancaster, South Carolina) for the Lancaster Lidlifter, Knight locked his spot into the main event with a fifth place finish in his heat. With crowd-funding efforts raising the top prize from $5,000 to $6,335, Cla withdrew from the 40-lap affair on the seventh lap.
For the final round of the tripleheader on Saturday, Cla headed to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) for the inaugural Palmetto Invitational. Following a sixth place finish in his heat race, Knight scored a fourth place finish in his B-Main, which positioned him 23rd on the starting grid for the finale. With $10,000 on the line, Cla Knight gained eight spots in the 60-lapper to place 15th.
