Cla Knight Clinches 2021 Ultimate Southeast Super Late Model Series Championship and Rookie of the Year Title
Consider it mission accomplished for Cla Knight. Via his performances in the series’ 2021 finale on Saturday night at Modoc Raceway, the 26-year-old South Carolina racer clinched both the Ultimate Southeast Series Super Late Model Championship and Rookie of the Year title.
With the feat, he entered rare air, joining Tyler Millwood as the only driver to ever claim both titles in the same year on the tour.
“What an amazing feeling to officially clinch both the Championship and the Rookie title. As a team we worked so hard and learned so much this year. The Super Late Model division is no joke, and every single night there’s a ton of guys who can get the job done. We took our lumps, kept digging, and it’s great to win our first Super Late Model series title,’ Knight said. “We’ve got so many great folks behind our program, and without their support there’s no way we could’ve got to this point. I thank each-and-every one of them.
“While the points season for us may be over, we definitely aren’t done this year though. We’ve got several races still on the schedule, and we’re going to try and grab some wins.”
Saturday evening found Knight taking his E-Z-GO / Allstar Concrete No. 42 Augusta Aquatics / M&W Transport / Barry Wright Race Car / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle at Modoc Raceway (Modoc, S.C.). The $4,000-to-win Clarks Hill Classic was sanctioned by the Ultimate Southern Series, and Cla earned the third-starting spot for the feature via preliminary action. He ran in the Topp-5 throughout the finale before registering a fourth-place finish behind Brandon Overton, Brent Dixon, and John Henderson.
