Knight tackles busy Labor Day weekend; Runner-up with HTF at Lavonia Speedway
With a busy holiday weekend of racing ahead of him, Cla Knight began his Labor Day weekend at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway on Friday afternoon for the first of two nights with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series.
Following the fifth-fastest lap in qualifying, Cla got the jump in his heat race which propelled him to the victory. Rolling off from the outside pole in the 50-lap main event, Knight led the first 21 laps before losing the top spot to Ashton Winger. Knight pestered Winger in the closing lap but ultimately settled for a runner-up finish in the $10,000-to-win feature.
With the field elevated to 26 Late Models at Rome (Ga.) Speedway on Saturday, Cla missed the setup in qualifying before retiring from the $15,000-to-win Rome Boss after completing just four laps.
Traveling overnight to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.), Knight was one of 17 Carolina Clash Super Late Models checked in. Starting the $7,500-to-win show from the fourth-row, Cla gained two positions to finish just outside the Top-5 in sixth.
