Details for Ken Knight's Celebration of Life Service
North Augusta, SC- Celebration of Life Services for Ken Knight, 66, who entered into rest June 8, 2024, will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Grace United Methodist Church Lake Site. Mr. Steven “Hot Rod” LaMance and Mr. Jay Bass officiating. The Grace United Methodist Church Lake Site entrance is located on US Hwy 28, 2.2 miles North of the US Hwy 221 intersection. Signage will be apparent marking the location. The family will receive friends following the service. As Ken would say, “Come as you are,” the family is requesting that guest in attendance wear racing attire or the color blue.
Ken was born September 2, 1957, in Greenwood, SC to the late Claude Ervin and Mildred Lucille Benson Knight. He lived in Hodges, SC for several years later moving to North Augusta, SC in 1988. Ken was a successful business owner in the commercial swimming pool construction realm for over 35 years. He was also a well-known and respected figure in the racing community. If Ken wasn’t working, he was racing. Racing himself for 32 years and owning his own team, Cla Knight Racing, for over 15 years. Ken was a proud family man who loved spending time with his family, especially during the Christmas season. He is a member of the Matthews United Methodist Church in Greenwood, SC. Ken will be remembered as someone who worked hard but played harder with his family motto being, “Families that race together stay together.” He loved his family and his beloved dog, Sammy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Gerald Riddle and father-in-law, Jimmy Deason. Surviving members left to cherish his memory include is wife of 37 years, Deanne Knight; three children, Kendrea Danielle (Turk Lewis) Knight, Kenzie Knight (Aaron) Shaw, Claude Ervin (Cassidy) Knight, II; two stepchildren, Ronda Burkhart (Russell) Crumley and Ronica Dionne Burkhart; five grandchildren, Claudia-Joy Shaw, Sebastian Shaw, Tatum Shaw, Reese Crumley and Jaxson Crumley; a sister, Carolyn (Joe) McMahan; mother-in-law, Judy Deason; beloved morkie, Sammy; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Buddy Rush, Bobby Kay, Lamar Ennis, James Turner and many others.
